China Enterprises Raises Its Rank in Top Five Patent Applications in Europe
At present, many Chinese companies are increasingly relying on their owninnovations. The statistics of the European Patent Office also reflect this point: Last year, Huawei became the company that submitted the most patent applications. This is the first time that a Chinese company has ranked first. According to a report on the website of the Swiss newspaper "New Zurich" on March 7, in 2017, the number of patent applications in Switzerland still increased by 0.6% on a very high base level. Switzerland submitted 7,283 patent applications to the European Patent Office last year, more than ever before. However, China’s growth in this area far exceeds that of Switzerland—the number of Chinese patent applications has increased by 16.6%. The number of applications for world championships the United States increased by 5.8%. However, in terms of per capita patent applications, Switzerland is the undisputed winner, with 884 patent applications per million inhabitants, far more than the second-ranked Netherlands. The number of patent applications per million inhabitants in the Netherlands is 412. In this statistical ranking, it should be difficult for China to compete with Switzerland. According to the German "Business Daily" website report on March 7, last year, Huawei has become the company that submitted the most patent applications, this is the first time that a Chinese company ranked the first. Patent applications from China increased by nearly 17%. As a result, China has entered the top five patent application rankings.
