China Society of Market Supervision recently released "Annual Report of Enterprises (2016)". The Report collected 22 million annual corporate reports for 2016. Statistics show that in 2016, 16.659 million enterprises nationwide are in operation with an operating rate of 95.22%, an increase of 1.90 percentage points from 2015. Overall, the tertiary industry had the highest operating rate of 95.61%; the second industry was 94.15%; the first industry was 92.23%. In terms of industries, enterprises in major fields of modern service industry such as scientific research and technology service, culture, sports and entertainment, information transmission, software and information technology service have a relatively high operating rate of more than 96 %; Mining industry operating rate is low, only 81.48%. According to the analysis of the annual reports of enterprises included in the statistics, it can be seen that in 2016, the number of enterprises making profits nationwide increased from 4,414,300 in 2015 to 4,985,600, representing an increase of 12.94% over the same period of last year. The proportion of profitable enterprises was 28.5%, down by 3.57% from the previous year; the breakeven enterprises accounted for 32.34%, a substantial increase of 7.23% over the previous year; the loss-making enterprises accounted for 38.70%, down 4.12% from the previous year. Statistics show that the eastern region has the highest operating rate of 96.38%, followed by 95.31% of Northeast China, 93.50% of Central China and 92.90% of Western China. However, opening does not mean "live well." In measuring the key indicators for enterprises to be bigger and stronger, the northeast enterprises has obviously fallen down. The lowest number of enterprises with overseas investment in Northeast China was 15,300 in 2016; the largest number of enterprises with overseas investment was in the eastern region with 185,300; the number of overseas investment enterprises in central and western regions were 45,400 and 35,600 respectively. The proportion of profitable enterprises is relatively high in the eastern and central regions, accounting for 29.16% and 29.88% respectively. Among them, the proportion of profitable enterprises in Hebei, Gansu and Zhejiang provinces is higher than the national average. Profit-making enterprises in Northeast China accounted for only 25.42%, ranking the bottom in all regions. In terms of city group,Jing-jin-jiand the Yangtze River Delta region have shown a good momentum of coordinated development. The total number of enterprises in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei is 2,047,200 with an opening rate of 97.56%, of which 723,300 are profit-making enterprises, accounting for 35.33%, 29,864,100 employees. There are 31,060,000 enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region, with an opening rate of 96.21%. Profit-making enterprises 1,021,700 households, accounting for 32.89%, employing 43,608,300 people. These figures are generally above the national average.
