Sino-British Bilateral Trade and Investment

In 2017, China-UK bilateral trade handed over a beautiful "report card." According to the latest statistics released by China Customs, the bilateral trade in goods between China and Britain in 2017 reached 79.03 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.2% over the same period of last year. Compared with the 300 million U.S. dollars when establishing diplomatic ties in 1972, the trade volume between China and Britain in 2017 increased 262 times. In addition to the steady promotion of economic and trade cooperation, the scale of bilateral investment in China and Britain has also gradually expanded. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, in 2017, China's direct investment in non-financial sectors in the United Kingdom amounted to US $ 1.53 billion, an increase of 3.4%. In 2017, the direct investment by the UK in China was US $ 1.5 billion, up 11.1%. From a cumulative investment perspective, the United Kingdom is China's second-largest investment destination in the EU and the second largest source of foreign investment for China in the EU.
