The Ministry of Public Security of China held a press conference on January 22 to notify the eight exit and entry facilitation measures introduced bythe Ministry of Public Security. At the briefing, Qu Yunhai, director of the ministry's Exit and Entry Administration Bureau introduced that the Ministry of Public Security decided that 8 items of exit and entry facilitation measures shall enter into force as of February 1, 2018, including providing visa and residence permit convenience for overseas Chinese. To overseas Chinese who come to China to visit families, conduct business and cultural exchanges and run personal errands, public security entry-exit management agencies can issue multiple entry visas for five years according to the regulation; For overseas Chinese who work, study, visit relatives and engage in private affairs for a long period of time, they may be issued residence permits valid for 5 years. This adjustment will extend the validity of multiple visas from 1 year to 5 years. The duration of residence permits shall be extended from no more than 3 years to 5 years. In the eyes of relevent people, this is equivalent to a five-year "green card".
