Russia Has Become China's Largest Supplier of Crude Oil
Russia maintained its position as China's top crude oil supplier for the ninth month in a row in November, according to customs data released on Tuesday. According to commodity trade data released by China's general administration of customs, Russia exported 5.12 million tons of crude oil in November, or about 1.246 million barrels a day, up 11% from the same period last year. Saudi Arabia is still China's second-largest crude oil supplier, with crude supply of 1.056 million barrels per day in November, down 7.8 percent year-on-year, according to the data. China's imports of crude oil from Russia are still growing, according to October's data released by customs officials, although imports from Iraq and Iran have fallen somewhat. China imported 4.65 million tons of crude oil from Russia in October, down 1.9 percent from a year earlier, and Russia has been beating Saudi Arabia for the eighth month in a row to maintain its position as China's top oil supplier. China imported 4.61 million tons of crude oil from Saudi Arabia in October, up 16 percent year on year. Imports of crude oil from Angola totaled 3.566 million tons, up 45.3% year on year. Imports from Iran were 2.91 million tons, down 11% from a year earlier. Imports of oil from Iraq 2.649 million tons, down 28.7 percent year on year. Imports of crude oil from the United States were 0.879 million tons, unchanged from the same period last year.
