Facebook was accused of abuse of market position in Germany
According tomediareports, the German anti-monopoly law enforcement agencies on Tuesday (19) said the method of FACEBOOK's access to user data constitutes abuse of dominant position. The German Federal Joint Agency announced preliminary findings on Tuesday accusing FACEBOOK of abusing its position as Germany's main social network, forcing users to allow the company to collect user data from third-party sources, such as sites with a click-through button. German regulators also challenged FACEBOOK's business model of making money with 2 billion user profiles through targeted advertising. FACEBOOK will not be penalized for the results of the survey, but as early as the summer of 2018, German regulators will make a final decision to change FACEBOOK's business model. FACEBOOK said regulators' description of the situation was inaccurate because the company has no dominant position and complies with European privacy laws. As of the end of September, Facebook had about 32 million active users in Germany. On Tuesday, Facebook shares fell 0.72% to 179.51 U.S. dollars, with a total market value of about 521.3 billion U.S. dollars.
