China invested 85 billion yuan to build railways in Malaysia
On August 9, 2017, the east coast railway
project built by Chinese enterprises on the east coast of Malaysia was formally
started. The east coast railway project in Malaysia is the largest railway
project in China, with an investment of 85 billion yuan ($13 billion).
Malaysia's east coast railway built by
China's national standard level of passenger and cargo dual-use electrification
railway, passenger train design speed of 160 km, freight train design speed of
80 kilometers, connecting important town on the east coast and west coast of
Malaysia's economic center. The construction period is expected to be 7 years
and will be completed in 2024. The railway will build a land transport corridor
from southwest China to Malaysia. The project is part of a "One Belt And
One Road" infrastructure project, which Malaysian prime minister najib
razak has said on the day. Mr. Najib said in his speech that the completion of
the railway would boost the economic development of the eastern coastal states,
benefiting more than 4.4 million people and bring about 1.5 percent additional
economic growth each year for the three east coast states.
