A report released by the World Economic Forum recently points out that the speed of production automation will be faster than expected, so a large number of jobs will be eliminated. The World Economic Forum conducted a survey of more than 300 companies worldwide and found that about 43% of enterprises polled will cut jobs as a result of technology integration, 42% will outsource their business, and 34% plan to expand staff as a result of technology integration. According to the report, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine automation technology will eliminate an estimated 85 million jobs globally by 2025, while related technologies will create 97 million new jobs in areas such as content innovation, engineering, cloud computing and product development. The report pointed out that the job most likely to be eliminated by AI and machine automation technology include data entry clerks, accountants, bookkeepers, payroll clerks and administrative assistants, of which 12% in financial services, 19% in the auto industry and 20% in mining and metals may also face the risk of unemployment. In addition, nearly half of the global workforce will need to be retrained over the next five years. Zahidi, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum, pointed out that COVID-19 has accelerated the arrival of the future work model, the outbreak of the epidemic has prompted enterprises and government departments to digitize and automate their work, and has accelerated the shift of global work to artificial intelligence and machine automation.
