The Ministry of Commerce of China recently released the latest data of China's service outsourcing industry from January to November 2020, showing that the contract value and execution value of China's service outsourcing industry have maintained rapid growth despite the epidemic. Data show that from January to November 2020, the amount of service outsourcing contracts undertaken by enterprises on the Chinese mainland reached 1.29779 trillion yuan, with the execution amount reaching 922.6 billion yuan, up 12.9% and 16.4% year-on-year respectively. Among them, 765.88 billion yuan was contracted to undertake offshore services, and 562.99 billion yuan was executed, up 11.5% and 16.6% year on year, respectively. From a structural point of view, from January to November, the amount of offshore information technology outsourcing (ITO), business process outsourcing (BPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) undertaken by Chinese mainland enterprises was 260.14 billion yuan, 88.14 billion yuan and 214.71 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth of 16.4%, 14.4% and 17.8% respectively. The amount of outsourcing execution in the information technology industry accounted for the main part. From the market perspective, from January to November, the offshore outsourcing executed by mainland Chinese enterprises from the United States, Hong Kong, China, EU, Japan, Singapore and South Korea were 126.37 billion yuan, 96.85 billion yuan and 89.13 billion yuan, 51.66 billion yuan, 30.86 billion yuan and 29.33 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.4%, 17.6% and 11.1%, 13.9%, 15.7% and 25.8% respectively, accounting for 75.3% of executed offshore service outsourcing in China. It is worth noting that China’s offshore business from the United States ranks first in terms of both total volume and growth rate, which shows that there is still room for economic cooperation between China and the US even in the context of the epidemic and trade war. At present, with the resurgence of COVID-19 and the suspension of production by a large number of foreign companies, China's service outsourcing industry is expected to have further growth in the future.
